The Historic Holly Theater is proud to present Banks & Shane with Jim Durand presenting a Tribute to the Kingston Trio on April 30th 2010.

Come sing along to the songs that are woven into the fabric of all of our lives such as: “Charlie & the MTA”, “Tom Dooley”,”Desert Pete”, and “Where Have All The Flowers Gone.”

Banks Burgess and Paul Shane, who have fronted their legendary Atlanta band “Banks & Shane” for over 35 years, and Jim Durand, a well-known guitarist, have put together a show that has captured perfectly the energy, excitement, and fun of the original Kingston Trio.

“Why Kingston Trio & Why now?” You could answer both of these questions with the importance of the Kingston Trio and their influence on American popular music, but the real reason is, “It’s Just TOO Much Fun!”

Originating in Dahlonega, Georgia, the MOUNTAIN MUSIC & MEDICINE SHOW has won three GABBY awards from the Georgia Association of Broadcasters for the best locally produced radio program in the State of Georgia. Amazing–especially considering that the MOUNTAIN MUSIC & MEDICINE SHOW is an all volunteer effort.

The setting is Dahlonega from Gold Rush days of the early 1800s to modern times of the early 1950s—?Doc Johnson’s traveling Miracle Medicine Show has come to town and set up on the Square in front of Nix’s Store, the hub of local commerce and social center of the area. Doc brings musical acts of the time with him as well as his own brand of humor while he exhorts folks to buy his “Wizard Water” elixir for improving their lives. He also showcases local talent on his show. Folks come from all around to hear the music & Doc. His fast-paced style and rapport with the crowd keeps toes a-tapping and things moving briskly along. The scene occasionally shifts to “street scene ” short skits where local people comment on the goings on of the day, mixing local history, culture and humor in the unique Southern Appalachian style of the time period. This is all presented in a live old-time Radio broadcast; sort of like going back in time without leaving your living room!

November 7, 2009 The Historic Holly Theater on W. Main St. (just off the Square) in Dahlonega. All shows are two hours, with preshow at 7pm and the show starting at 8pm, with $15 admission.

Make your plans now to attend the First Ever Enotah CASA Masquerade at Dahlonega’s Cavender Castle on October 30, 2009 from 7:00 to 10:00 PM! This will be a great night of fun, food and entertainment. There will be Music, Roving Magicians, Stilt Walker, Juggler, Many Silent Auction Items, Live Artists working during the event, and more!

Remember it’s a Masquerade (think Phantom of the Opera) not a Halloween Party so no dead brides or chainsaw murderers. Do come dressed in your party clothes (not necessarily formal, but that’s alright too) and be sure to wear a Masquerade mask. Masks are available at Treasures Within on the square in Dahlonega and at Jills on the square in Cleveland. Masquerade masks are also available on the web and there will be a contest! So buy your mask in town; decorate a mask yourself, or hunt for something spectacular on the internet. No matter how you do it, this night promises to be memorable!

Buy your tickets early and save! Tickets are available online at www.enotahcasa.org or by phone. Tickets are $30 per person or $55 per couple until October 15-then the price goes to $40 per ticket.

Tickets are limited and when they’re gone-they’re gone!
